When the Clouds Become Stories

Little Glimmers from the Farm

Yesterday, I found myself with something that sometimes feels like a rare luxury — a little quiet time with absolutely nothing pressing that needed my attention.

I sat watching the breeze gently move through the long, graceful branches of our willow tree. There's something so peaceful about the way those branches dance in the wind, almost as though the tree is enjoying the afternoon as much as I am.

And then I looked up.

There, drifting across the sky, was a cloud that looked just like a dog with his nose pointed proudly upward. And tucked beneath his chin, I could see what looked like a little child standing and holding a teddy bear.

Of course, they were just clouds. But isn't it wonderful what our imaginations can discover when we give them a little room to wander?

I sat for a while, watching the clouds change shape and the willow branches sway, with no particular place I needed to be and nothing I needed to accomplish.

Just a quiet afternoon, a gentle breeze, and a little imagination.

Life on the farm can be wonderfully busy, with gardens to tend, plants to harvest, and always another project waiting. But moments like this remind me that some of the best things the farm has to offer aren't things I grow or make.

Sometimes, the gift is simply having the time to sit still and look up.
