A Little More to Give
Little Glimmers from the Farm
October is here, and the lavender field still has a few surprises for me.
Today I gathered a late-season harvest of Betty's Blue lavender. These beautiful deep purple blossoms are one of the last gifts from the lavender field before the plants settle in for the colder months ahead.
This little harvest is headed to the drying shed, where the flowers will dry before I gently remove the buds from their stems. Those fragrant little buds will eventually find their way into cups of tea.
There's something especially satisfying about that — growing the lavender, tending it through the seasons, gathering the blossoms, and finally enjoying them in a warm cup of tea.
It's a wonderful reminder that the harvest doesn't really end when the flowers are cut. Their story continues in all the little ways we use and enjoy them.
And when the lavender field is resting this winter, we'll still have a little bit of its summer beauty waiting in the teapot.
Just another little glimmer from Figments Lavender & Herb Farm.
